New Facebook Feature In Beta Testing - “Shares”
Facebook unveiled its latest feature today, called Facebook Shares:

It looks like it has been released as a beta feature at Berkeley and Stanford only, since there is no information about it on the Facebook Blog or elsewhere on the internet.
The new Shares feature can share a news feed item, YouTube video, or MP3 file with a friend on Facebook, as long as privacy settings allow other people to see it. Notice the “Share +” button next to the news feed item:

To link to web pages outside of Facebook, users have two options to choose from. They can either copy and paste the URL into the “Shares” section of Facebook, or use a bookmarklet outside of Facebook. A bookmarklet is a bookmark link containing javascript that sits on a user’s browser link bar. It works by sending the URL of the current web page to Facebook, where it is interpreted as a website, video, or MP3:
Either paste a URL:

Or use the bookmarklet:

But can you share a news feed item with people outside of Berkeley or Stanford? Nope:
