Take a look:

I have nothing against Aqua Teen Hunger Force, I really like it, but ads in the news feed are a big annoyance. It’s obvious now why Facebook was unwilling to remove the news feed after it was introduced, even when a Facebook group petitioned its removal. Ads for the feed were part of Facebook’s plan since its conception. Now, it is impossible to avoid looking at the ads in the feed, since we use the feed every day to find out what our friends are doing.
I’m counting down the days until Facebook becomes Myspace.

As the Nintendo Wii release date gets closer, those looking to secure a Wii on release day are taking more precautions, myself included. After I missed the EB Games/Gamestop pre-order as mentioned earlier, I kept a lookout for any second chances. About a week ago, I found one.

Facebook unveiled its latest feature today, called Facebook Shares:

It looks like it has been released as a beta feature at Berkeley and Stanford only, since there is no information about it on the Facebook Blog or elsewhere on the internet.

I was somehow able to swipe a private invitation to Gamespot After Hours, which is Gamespot’s first gaming convention and tournament. It has held on Pier 27 in San Francisco. Here was the lineup for the night:

Berkeley students are a constant reminder of how competitive people can be. Here’s what EB Games looked like this morning:
The first person in line had a sleeping bag. I was number 38 in line, and they stopped selling pre-prders at number 32! I’m bummed. That means I either need to pre-order it online in a week, or camp out and be #1 in line. I’m leaning towards the camping.
I blame Friday the 13th.

Early yesterday morning I got an e-mail from GameStop informing me that the Nintendo Wii will be available for pre-order on Friday, Oct 13, from GameStop and EB Games stores. I think it’s amusing that GameStop picked Friday the 13th for their pre-order launch - I just hope it’s not a bad omen, jinxing the Wii’s availability. According to the e-mail, “we expect to reach our limit [of pre-orders] very quickly, most likely in minutes.”
I’m going to be waiting in line at EB Games at 9:00am, one hour before the store opens at 10:00am.
Check it out:

Since this is my first entry in a brand new blog, it probably won’t be read by anyone for months, and by that time the Wii’s release date will have come and gone. If you pre-ordered a Wii, put your story in the comments - I’d love to read about it.
